Lunch

More Tofu Salad. I was going to have a Honey & Almond Croissant from a bakery a few blocks down but I tossed a coin in the manner of Dice Man and it was Tales = Salad. I had some Spirulina & Carob cubes as well. They are really nice and very inexpensive here $1 for 5 as opposed to £1.50 each in Wholefood's at home.

Day Trippers

Ryan texted me and we decided to go to the Design District for lunch. We went to this little Argentinian cafe called Lemoni. It was really pretty, and friendly and nice.
It felt like it could have been anywhere, the area is strange, you feel as though you could be on a highway running through Texas or anywhere in the US. I had a soy burger panini and Ryan has quesadillas.
We went around the corner to see a girl Ryan knew, she has a whole house with a garden near by. It was amazing, she made us English tea from Harrods, talked a lot about working with ancestor spirits and had two really happy little kittens. The garden was full of lizards which the kitten chased and spider webs which I like somewhat less.
We stayed quite a while and then popped into Marni as our friend works there. On the way back to South Beach we went back to Lemoni to share a Brownie A'La Mode (that's American for with ice cream) and drink coffee.
We drove back over the Causeway - its great as you can see all of Downtown Miami over the Biscayne Bay.

Milk & Honey

I drink Coconut water on the beach, it stops me from passing out entirely. I like all coconut water but particularly the sleazy spanish variety with the pulp in, its actually less expensive that the more commercial brands as well.

Lighter Life

Richard told me about a new whole food style supermarket in South Beach so I went this morning to check it out. I bought a really nice looking cheese and berry salad for dinner. The thing with these 'health' markets is that 90% of the products are actually really pretty bad for you. They had the odd bunch of organic carrots, fresh fruit and some dodgy scented candles, however they also had rows and rows of cakes, cookies, chocolate covered nuts and other tempting calorific crap. In effect these places are really just junk food markets for the very rich.

I need you but I'm not gonna crack

I totally cracked and went to Wholefoods and got coffee and 2 tiny 99 cent cupcakes. They were perfect actually just enough. They had massive cupcakes for $2.99 but I really didn't need to eat that much. I just needed a little sugar to improve my mood. These two were divine. I fed the crumbs to a cute little Sparrow that came by.
Miami Sparrows are a little bit more pointy than UK Sparrows, they are braver, more forthright and have slightly longer legs. I sat outside eating my cakes and I noticed as I was watching people come in to the store that many of them were really very thin. I don't really have a problem with people being weight conconcious because obviously I spend a great deal of time thinking about that kind of thing myself. I do however believe that a great deal of the culture around health, food allergies, intolerances etc is actually just a manifestation of body dysmorphia and food disorder. Either way there was a high incedence of anorexia in Wholefoods this afternoon.

Sugarbabe

The closing act of self harm for today was sharing a slice of Devil Dog Cake with Richard in Ice Box. I don't really use carcenogenic sweetener in coffee I just respond well to irony.

Eat, Sleep, Write, Pray

If you have no price you cannot be bought
If you want for nothing you cannot be bribed
If you are not afraid you cannot be controlled

I can be bought pretty cheap and today I bribed myself to write a story and clean the apartment for the piece of German Chocolate cake pictured above. I bought it from Ice Box on Michigan Avenue. They have a sign outside that says 'America's Best Cakes - Oprah Winfrey.'  I guessed Oprah knows a thing or two about cakes and she was not wrong. I am afraid I'll be going back soon to try the Devils Chocolate cake ....
